Its name comes from the Greek words "kyrtos" meaning "curved" and "anthro" meaning "flower". It is also called African lily. This is a very rare, slow-growing bulbous caudex plant. During the vegetative rest period, it loses its leaves, at the moment of awakening it blooms with beautiful red trumpet flowers and later, after flowering, it grows new leaves.
